Matendo Health

Matendo Health is a platform that links Ugandan facilities with fully licensed independent clinicians. Every clinician is checked against their council register (UNMC, UMDPC, Allied Health or Pharmacy), and each skill on their profile has evidence and a date behind it. Duties are shown only to clinicians who hold the exact, verified credentials required. Facilities offer a fee, a clinician accepts it, and Matendo handles the paperwork and pays the clinician. All lines are itemised in UGX, with the clinician’s fee, Matendo’s service fee and VAT shown separately.

Clinicians check in and out on site, so facilities can see who arrived and when. If a duty is not covered, it reopens immediately to everyone else who qualifies. Specialist cover is available for oncology and ICU units, theatres, renal services, research sites and trials. General cover is available for clinics, district and upcountry facilities, maternity homes and NGOs. Clinicians can add skills they can evidence, and if Matendo does not list one, they can describe it in their own words. Every offer shows the fee before the clinician accepts, and they may decline any part of it. Payment reaches the clinician’s Mobile Money after the facility confirms the hours. Screening for health worker applications typically takes 3 to 5 business days, and documents are stored privately and never shared without the clinician's consent.
